So let me understand. You agree with his recommended solution to turn the authority over to the President to overrule congress and become our strongman and lift this crisis off our shoulders? To emulate Teddy Roosevelt and expand his office's powers to that degree?

Now you're frightening me. I wouldn't trust this president... scratch that. I DON'T trust this president with the powers he has now because HE is as much to blame as ANYONE in government for this present crisis. I want government to bust their budget options UNLESS they get their friggin' heads pulled out of the dark stink. If that is "Burning the place down" it is less evil than turning the whole show over to the tyrant we saw in the first two years of his administration when he had both houses of congress backing him.

I won't trust any President with power. Bind him down with the limits in the US Constitution.

If preventing a tyrant from limitless rule is burning down the house, then as painful as it may be, I have to say "burn baby burn." Irresponsibility is costly and the the voters are as guilty as the politicians and the debtors are as guilty as the banks, so the onus is on every citizen to take responsibility, not on a strong man who will cure all our ills. The government powerful enough to meet every need is powerful enough to take everything we have. After the bitter pill, the people will once again take steps to meet their own need and to help their neighbors rather than call on Government to meet every want and need.
